- November 13, 2024Erton “Tony” Boci found his way into electrical and computer engineering through a natural curiosity and a talent for math. His journey led him to study wireless communication systems, work on a national air traffic surveillance system, and teach cutting edge technology to the next generation of engineers.
- November 13, 2024Ashish Hingle’s research examines how students develop an understanding of artificial intelligence (AI) through coursework and activities both inside and outside the classroom. He states, "As we prepare our students to be informed users and developers of algorithms and AI, we must align their learning with their interests."
- November 11, 2024Dave Lattanzi, an associate professor in the Sid and Reva Dewberry Department of Civil, Environmental, and Infrastructure Engineering has examined structures as diverse as 20th-century bridges, ancient towers, the sunken hull of a Confederate submarine, a naval destroyer, and most recently, images of human bruises. This work produced a series of strategies and tools that promote safety, enhance resiliency, and improve health, all connected by data analysis and image diagnostics.

Advised by Adjunct Professor Matthew Doyle, EfID students manage their own projects, secure funding through competitions, and build connections with industry professionals to make a meaningful impact worldwide.
- November 11, 2024George Mason University’s College of Engineering and Computing (CEC) plans to collaborate with the Indian Institute of Technology–Ropar (IIT–Ropar) as one of three Centers of Excellence (CoEs) in AI. This collaboration results from a call for proposals last winter from the Ministry of Education of India which seeks to improve the nation’s AI ecosystem through cooperation with partners worldwide.

He also oversees the design and construction of capital projects for the wastewater collection system for Fairfax County.
