Biography

Hoda Hassan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Information Sciences and Technology. Dr. Hassan’s research interests include computer networks, MANETs (Mobile Ad Hoc Networks), and the intersection of Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things (IoT). During the years 2015 to 2017, Dr. Hassan secured a research grant from the Information Technology Academia Collaboration (ITAC) in Egypt, amounting to 2 million Egyptian Pounds. This grant supported a Product Development Project (PDP) aimed at developing the first Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) computer-aided design toolkit for designing, prototyping, and managing BLE MANETs. The project was conducted in collaboration with Qoudra, an IoT startup, and Helwan Public University. The developed BLE tool was subsequently acquired by Skymind Malaysia, a prominent player in the global artificial intelligence ecosystem, and is presently marketed under Skymind’s new subsidiary, blupulse.

Additionally, Dr. Hassan's impact extends beyond research as she was a pioneer member of the team that founded The Knowledge Hub (TKH) Universities in Egypt. TKH is a hub for several offshore International University branches in Egypt. Dr. Hassan was actively engaged in shaping the Foundation year of Coventry University, UK offshore Branch at TKH and led the Computing and Computer Science Program from 2019 to 2022.

Dr. Hassan received her PhD in Computer Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) in 2010 and her MSc and BSc in Computer Science from the American University in Cairo in 2005 and 1992 respectively.
