December 14, 2022Mason researchers Jeffrey Moran in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Rémi Veneziano in the Department of Bioengineering, and Monique van Hoek, a microbiologist in the School of Systems Biology, won the NBIB R21 Trailblazer award. The team will research methods to dissolve harmful biofilms.
June 30, 2022Professor Andre Manitius, of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), received The David J. King Teaching Award at the university’s Celebration of Teaching Excellence on May 2. This award is given annually in recognition of a sustained impact on the excellence of teaching and learning at George Mason University.

March 17, 2022The American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) has announced the election of Giorgio Ascoli, University Professor, in the Department of Bioengineering at George Mason University to its College of Fellows. Ascoli was nominated, reviewed, and elected by peers and members of the AIMBE College of Fellows for outstanding contributions in the development of open-access resources for data science in the investigation of learning, memory, and neurodegeneration.
February 28, 2022Professor Amarda Shehu of the College of Engineering and Computing’has been named a Fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) College of Fellows “for pioneering contributions to computational biology and bioinformatics.”
