Biography

Tokunbo Fadahunsi’s teaching philosophy is learner-focused and uses active-learning pedagogies. As an instructor, he encourages critical thinking by integrating relatable examples drawn from his students’ diverse backgrounds and majors into his classroom and assignments. As an educator with research interests within the statistical sciences, Fadahunsi focuses on encouraging the critical thinking skills of his students while aiding their retention of statistical concepts. He also endeavors to develop within his students a desire to learn how to draw and communicate information from data.

Statistics are interesting and ever-changing, therefore, the techniques he uses to present the material are equally dynamic and enjoyable. Fadahunsi uses a combination of traditional lecture techniques, active learning educational methods, and online education technology. In his classroom, students are challenged to actively engage in every step of the learning process.

Fadahunsi has a wide range of international work experience in banking, finance, business marketing/research, and academia. His research focuses on the application of mathematical and statistical models in the evaluation of various financial markets and economic parameters. Some of the parameters he has studied include, volatility - a measure of the degree of nervousness or instability of prices, ruin probability – a measure of the time evolution of the reserve of an insurance company, and Value at Risk. He also conducts research in statistics education and biomedical applications.
